The current site...
This might be a slightly rambling update post. I'm not a huge fan of the recent updates DA has done. I'm finding things so much more clunky to navigate. I'm hoping that things get streamlined in the coming weeks and I'll be keeping an eye on site updates and such. However I will be a lot less active on DA (not that I was massively active in the last few months anyway- blame that on a broken knee cap).
I've been around on DA for over a decade now and seen a couple of site updates. This one has definitely been the biggest and copped the biggest backlash. In the last few months I've kinda been feeling like I've been stagnating here anyway. The DA site change is just the last straw. So with all that I think I'll try moving the bulk of my activity over to Pixiv, it'll give me more incentive to practice my Japanese. Pixiv also has some nice gallery features which DA doesn't have (like having multiple images attached to the one submission and streaming capacity). I'll probably still post most stuff here and I'll still respond to comments. I probably won't respond so much to favs as much.
TLDR- I'm moving activity to Pixiv but will still be keeping tabs on DA, even if I don't post everything here.
This year...
At the moment I'm trying find a replacement car to my old one. The old car has a mysterious electrical/computer fault which the mechanics have no idea what it is. It's the third time this year the car has given my gripe. The search is hindered by a tight budget because I've been trying all year to find a job that gives me enough hours to reliably pay rent and live. At least I still have a decent pool of savings left for the moment.
On the plus side I have managed to find a good social club up here. It's a shame I only ever seem to make every second meet up.
Emotionally and financially it has been a fairly sucky year this year. Hopefully next year is a bit better. I've re-applied for uni so maybe I'll have that to look forward to.
Into The New Year
In art related news there is a new watercolour done, just need to wait until after the move to get it scanned. Also picked up some soft pastels to try out. Other than that won't really have much until after I move. There is a digital picture that I really ought to finish up. It's been sitting at about 80% coloured for the last couple of months.
Been playing a bit of Final Fantasy XV. I like it. Good music, great graphics and the plot and characters are actually pretty good. Considering what happens there's basically no moping and emo-ness. I would prefer the older style turn based combat where you think about tactics a bit more and exploiting enemy weaknesses. There are enemy weaknesses but it's basically use the right weapon and you're good. Magic's great if you don't mind friendly fire. I think I'm better at hitting my allies than the enemy. Side quests are many but not all that myriad. It's a lot of 'kill x' or 'find y'. Also don't call down a summon in an underground dungeon. It can cause a camera lock trapping you in the dungeon unable to rotate the camera to activate the ladder and get out. Pretty good when you've spent the last hour or so clearing it out of bosses and enemy spawns. -.-
General news
In other news working on a water colour picture with dragons. I also got a beading loom. So far I've done a chocobo bracelet. Next up will be moogles. Maybe, once I've got a few done, I'll post the results.
